What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a composite resin that is painted directly onto the surface of a tooth. This durable resin conceals minor cosmetic flaws that affect the appearance of your smile.

Drs. David Garate and Myriam Falcon will carefully color match the bonding material to your smile. When treatment is completed, the bonding material is indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

Bonding vs. Veneers Comparing Treatment Options

/

A porcelain veneer is a thin shell of tooth-colored material that is bonded to the front of a tooth. Veneers can yield dramatic results, but they are more expensive and invasive than bonding. During your visit with Drs. Garate and Falcon, they can discuss which treatment option is more ideal for your needs.

The Advantages of Dental Bonding Benefits of Treatment

Minimally Invasive Dentistry

Whether filling a cavity or hiding a stain, bonding is minimally invasive. This allows patients to retain their natural tooth structure during the procedure, which is performed with little need for anesthesia.

Quick and Natural-Looking Results

The dental bonding procedure can be completed in just 30 minutes or less. In a simple visit to the dentist, your teeth can look pristine and free from cosmetic imperfections.

An Affordable Cosmetic Dentistry Solution

Bonding is less expensive than veneers and dental crowns. Thanks to relatively inexpensive dental bonding, cost is no longer a hurdle for patients interested in cosmetic dentistry.

I was so lucky to be answered on the phone by Juana! I told her the problem I was in and was accommodated to the absolute best! What’s even better is that I was called to get my appointment moved up because there was an opening and she thought of me! The whole facility inside is very efficient and clean.

The Dental Bonding Procedure A Step-by-Step Guide

The dental bonding procedure can be completed in just 30 minutes or less.

Day of Procedure

The dental bonding procedure can be completed in just 30 minutes or less.

Color Matching the Dental Resin

Each dental bonding procedure is customized to the patient. Drs. Garate and Falcon will ensure that the resin matches the shade of your teeth for the most natural results possible.

Prepping the Tooth

The surface of the tooth is slightly scuffed up. This will improve the bond between the composite resin and the surface of any treated teeth.

Applying the Composite Resin

The composite resin is brushed directly onto the surface of the teeth. The bonding material is carefully shaped in order to achieve optimal results.

Curing the Composite Resin

With the bonding material applied, the teeth are exposed to a special curing light. This light helps the resin harden.

Polishing the Bonded Resin

The final step is polishing any treated teeth. This gives the composite resin a more realistic appearance, giving you a beautiful, natural-looking smile.

Proper Oral Hygiene

Patients should continue to brush and floss regularly to maintain good dental health. Be sure to use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a non-abrasive toothpaste. This is gentle on the teeth and will prolong the duration of the dental bonding treatment.

Bad Habits to Avoid

Avoiding certain habits will maintain your bonding results. Do not bite your nails, nibble on pens or drinking straws, use your teeth to open packages, or chew on ice cubes. Wear face and mouth protection during sports and other activities where dental injuries can occur.
